Secured by Design
Secured by Design is the UK police's own security scheme. Jedson holds a Secured by Design licence.
What it means
A Secured by Design window or door has been attacked at an independent test laboratory, by people trying to break in with hand tools against the clock, and has kept them out. The test is PAS 24. It tests the whole window or door: the frame, the locks, the hinges and the glass working together.
Because it is the combination that is tested, we build our Secured by Design windows and doors with the tested parts every time. We do not swap a lock or a hinge for a cheaper one.
Who asks for it
Most new-build sites and many housing associations require Secured by Design. Homeowners get the same windows and doors, and some insurers take it into account.
